WESTBROOK, Minnesota (STPNS) -- WWG — Tasha Nelson is no stranger to Westbrook Walnut Grove, having grown up in Westbrook and graduating from high school at WWG. She attended college at Augustana College, Sioux Falls, SD. where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Instrumental Music Education.
Previously Nelson taught at Waverly-South Shore Public School in SD - where she taught K-12th grade band and choir. She also taught at Redfield Public School in SD - where she taught 5th-12th grade band. Then she taught at Canby Public Schools where she taught 5th-12th grade band and 4th-6th grade general music. With a total of 9 years teaching experience.
At WWG she will be teaching 7th-12th grade band classes at the high school in Westbrook; 4th-6th grade general music and 5th and 6th grade band classes at Walnut-Grove.
Nelson’s parents are Steve and Jan Nelson. She has three siblings: Luke and his wife Danae, Amy and her husband Jarett, and Beth. She has one nephew Rowan. She is currently engaged to be married this April. Her fiancé is Matt Cuff and he is the Meat Market Manager at Hy-Vee in Windom, MN.
She says, “I enjoy reading, attending concerts, spending time outdoors; camping, hiking, swimming, and fishing. I love to make music and enjoy playing piano and organ for various churches in the area. I am also a flautist in the Southwest Minnesota Orchestra, which is based out of Marshall, MN at SMSU. We perform various concerts throughout the year.”
Nelson said, “I am excited to be teaching back in my hometown. I am ready to share my love of music with the students and community. I look forward to a great school year and getting to know the students!”
