DISASTER AND ACCIDENT
Revere man killed in train accident
WESTBROOK, Minnesota (STPNS) -- Lamberton — Last Wednesday morning Revere area farmer Chad Nelson Anderson 43 was killed in a collision with a Canadian Pacific Railroad train. Anderson was transporting two gravity boxes filled with corn behind a John Deere tractor. The accident was reported in a 911 call at 8:40 a.m. to the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office. Anderson was attempting to cross the railroad tracks just east of the Highwater Ethanol plant west of Lamberton on Harvest Avenue. The west bound train collided with the tractor and trailers separating the tractor from the trailers. The tractor came to rest on its side just a few yards to the west of the crossing and damage was considered totaled. The trailers remained on the road south of the crossing totally destroying the first trailer. As a result of the accident Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene. Driver of the Canadian Pacific engine was 25 year old Alex Hanson. Damages to the train were not determined at the time of the accident. Services for Anderson were held Saturday morning at St. Olaf Lutheran Church south of Walnut Grove. He is survived by his parents Kenneth and Sandy Anderson of rural Revere, and three sisters.
