WESTBROOK, Minnesota (STPNS) --     WWG —  The Chargers took advantage  of three first half scores to put away the Southwest United Wildcats 20-6.

The Chargers out gunned the Wildcats passing for 127 yards and two touchdowns, holding the Wildcats to just 11 yards through  the air. But the  Wildcats out gained the Chargers on the ground with 213 yards compared to 141 for the Chargers.

The Chargers scored in the first quarter with Dana Madson breaking loose on a 27 yard run for the score. John Elzenga put the ball  on the money to Shane Buchman for the two point conversion.

They also scored in the first period when Wildcat quarterback Matthew Soto broke through the secondary racing 41 yards for a touchdown on the last play of the first quarter. The extra point attempt failed so the Chargers took their 2 point lead into the second quarter.

On the Chargers next possession they were forced to punt. But the Chargers defense held the Wildcats forcing another punt. But Soto, the punter, could not snare a high snap and he ended up recovering the ball at his own 27.

With great field position the Chargers used a little trickery with  Madson throwing a 27 yard half back option pass to Buchman for the score. The extra point attempt failed but the Chargers upped their lead to 14-6.

Later in the quarter Tristan Joel grabbed one of his two pass interceptions setting the Chargers  up at their own 37 yard line. After four or five plays Elzenga fired a pass to

Aaron Hass who took it in for the score from eight yards out. Again the extra point attempt failed but the Chargers upped their lead to 20-6 at the close of the first half.
