WESTBROOK, Minnesota (STPNS) -- Donald Ewald Ewy

    Funeral services were held for Donald Ewald Ewy Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Westbrook, MN. Pastor Dave Danner officiated. Interment was in the Westbrook Cemetery, Westbrook, MN.

    Don’s health declined recently and he died at his home on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the age of 71.

    Donald Ewald Ewy was born on June 23, 1941, at home on the farm in Dovray Township, Murray County, MN to Ewald and Agnes (Ankrum) Ewy. He was baptized and later confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook, Minnesota. He received his education from country school in rural Westbrook and Westbrook Public School.



    On January 26, 1968, Don was united in marriage to Delores Gustad at the Old Westbrook Lutheran Church. Don had many jobs throughout his life. He was an owner/operator for Ewy Milling, Solar Gas delivery man, feed mill operator in Westbrook and Storden, lumberyard man, and Grandpa Daycare.

    Don was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook where he was an usher and served on the altar guild. He was on the Dovray Fire Department and involved with the Storden Saddle Tramps. Don enjoyed horseback riding, farming, hunting, camping, the outdoors, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.

    Survivors include his wife, Delores, Westbrook; six children, Rick (Brenda) Ewy, St. Paul Park, Terry Ewy of Woodbury, Lonnie (Tiffanie) Ewy, Westbrook, Mike (Pam) Ewy, Madelia, Sherry (Roy) Maras, Redwood Falls, and Stephanie (fiancé, Chad Hummel) Ewy, Westbrook; fifteen grandchildren; four sisters, Delores Gertner of Winona, LaDonna Busswitz of Worthington, Judy (Ronnie) Schreier, Currie, and Sharon Gerhardt of Mesa, AZ; several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

    Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, LaVonne Layman.

William Duggen

Funeral services for William Duggen were Friday, November 9, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook.  Interment was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Brewster, MN.  Online condolences may be sent via www.stephensfuneralservice.com.

    William “Bill”Duggen, 84 of Westbrook died Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center.  

    William Duggen was born November 7, 1928 in Round Lake Township, MN to William and Lottie (Mohns) Duggen.  He attended school in the Round Lake area.  Bill farmed with his father until he was drafted into the US Army in 1953, and was stationed in Iceland during the Korean conflict.  On March 9, 1954 he was united in marriage to Mavis Beerman in Brewster.  When Bill returned from serving his country, they farmed near Westbrook.  In 1970 they purchased a home and moved into Westbrook where Bill was employed by the Cottonwood County Highway Department until he retired in 1993.  He enjoyed woodworking and crafting, as well as “tinkering” in his shop.  Bill had the unique ability to create almost anything and refurbish many numerous materials into useful and workable products.  Bill and Mavis had a craft business for 20 years known as “Homestead Crafts.”  He also enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading, traveling, and old time polka music.  Bill especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

    Survivors include his wife Mavis, Westbrook; children: Janice (Bruce) Rhubee of Jeffers and Ronald (Heidi) Duggen of Clear Lake; grandchildren: Amber (Nic) Danielson of Jackson, Jedediah (Anna) Rhubee of Jeffers, Justina Johnson of Sauk Rapids, and Errol Johnson of St. Cloud; great grandchildren: Abigail and Jack Rhubee of Jeffers; and many other relatives and friends.  

    Preceding him in death were three children who passed away at birth, Darrell, Debra, and Patricia; parents William and Lottie Duggen; sisters Lanora (Martin) Ruesch and Lois Duggen; and a grandson Jeremiah Johnson.
