WESTBROOK, Minnesota (STPNS) -- Linda Zimmerman

    Mass of Christian Burial for Linda Zimmerman was held January 29, 2013 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Westbrook, MN.  Interment is in Westbrook Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent via www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  

    Linda Zimmerman, 66, Westbrook, formerly of Hopkins and Chaska, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at her home.  

    Linda Zimmerman was born December 20, 1946 in Adrian, MN to Berend and Bernice (Kemper) Engelkes.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith.  Linda grew up in Hopkins, attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Hopkins High School in 1966.  On October 29, 1971 she was united in marriage to David Zimmerman in Ogden, Kansas.  They moved to Chaska, MN in 1987 and then to Westbrook in 2006.  Linda loved her cats, and enjoyed reading, crocheting, and watching the Vikings.  She loved camping and sitting around the campfire.  The loves of her life were her son and her grandchildren.  



    Survivors include her husband David; son Brian (Lisa) Zimmerman of Westbrook; grandchildren Lawrence, Rylee, and Ian; mother-in-law Betty Lou Zimmerman; surrogate family members: Dominic and Echo Rose Nelson, Alexandra Blom, Emily Grace Wooden, and Robert Blom Jr.; brother Randy Engelkes of Robbinsdale; nieces and nephews: Vince (Alicia) Engelkes, Dan (Andrea) Zimmerman, Debra Jay, John (Megan) Duran, Mike Duran, and Diane (Jamie) Rieger; and many other relatives and friends.  

    Preceding her in death were her parents, sister-in-law Rita Engelkes, and father-in-law Harvey Zimmerman.

Margaret G. (Pilotte) Friend

    Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret G. (Pilotte) Friend, age 96, of Marshall were held January 28, 2013 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Interment followed the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

    Margaret died January 22, 2013 at Saunder's Medical Center LTC in Wahoo, NE; where she lived 5 months to be near her daughter, Barb.

    Margaret was born May 11, 1916 to Joseph and Laura (Paradis) Pilotte in Brooten, MN.  She married Jack Wyffels in November of 1938.  To this union, son Joseph was born. Jack died in March of 1945. She later married Donald Friend on June 9, 1946 in Walnut Grove, MN at St. Paul's Catholic Church. The couple managed Friends Sportsman's Bar and Grill in Walnut Grove for 25 years. Margaret was dedicated to her faith and spirituality. She blessed Holy Redeemer with many hours of service with the CCW and the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed going out for coffee with her lady's group, playing cards and visiting with friends. The people she enjoyed spending the most time with were her grandchildren; who will remember Grandma for teaching them to speak and count in French.  She loved being with them and watching them grow up. Margaret had a passion for flowers and loved being outdoors.

    Survivors include her children, Joseph (Donna) Friend, Billings, MT, Marilyn (Jerry) Morhain, Sedalia, MO, Barb (Keith) Rupp, Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Cyndi (Doug) Kay of Boise, ID, Michelle Friend of Angle Inlet, MN, Charlie (Joy) Friend of Billing, MT, Mike (Angela) Anderson of Hesston, KS, Dean (Stephanie) Anderson of Littleton, CO, Angela (John) Carns of Henderson, NV, Jennifer (Greg) Nitzel of Mattawan, MI, Joseph Rupp of Lincoln, NE; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.

    Preceding her in death were her first husband, Jack Wyffels; second husband, Donald Friend; parents, Joseph and Laura Pilotte; sister, Vivienne Pagel; grandson, Brian Friend.
