Business man Les Hoyt died last week
WESTBROOK, Minnesota (STPNS) -- walnut Grove — Business man and community promoter Leslie “Les” Arnold Hoyt died a week ago Monday at the age of 93. Hoyt will be remembered as a business man, and community supporter. Hoyt joined the family automotive business in 1946 after returning from serving in the Army during World War II. At that time the company sold Plymouth and Desoto automobiles into the late fifties. After that the business continued as a full service gas station and automotive repair shop. In 1975 he and his wife Doris took over operation of the business through 1985 when they semi-retired. Hoyt’s son Dave and his wife Wanda then took over operation of the business. After a major remodeling adding a convenience store the name of the business was changed to Hoyt’s Oil and Convenience Store. Les continued to help out when needed, and continued to take care of the beautiful flowers on the store’s boulevard. Hoyt was a member of the Lions Club, Walnut Grove Community Club, and served on St. Olaf Church council. Les also volunteered for many years at the Wilder Pageant.
