WESTBROOK, Minnesota (STPNS) -- Doris Irene Hoyt
Funeral services for Doris Irene Hoyt were held September 13, 2013 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Walnut Grove. Burial was in St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.
Doris Irene Hoyt age 85 of Walnut Grove died Monday, September 9, 2013 at Prairie View Health Care Center in Tracy.
Doris Irene Kleven Hoyt was born October 23, 1927 in Cottonwood County, MN to Lillie (Nordsiden) and Martin Kleven. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Olaf Luther Church in rural Walnut Grove. Doris attended country school District #43. She graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1945. On April 23, 1949 she married Leslie Hoyt at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Doris was a wonderful stay-at-home mom who raised five children and helped her husband do bookkeeping at Hoyt Oil and Auto. Doris was very active in church. She was an officer in Ladies Aid, Circle, Mother’s Club and Family Night. Doris was a member of the 20th Century Club, Bridge club, and the Doris Club. She also helped sell t-shirts at the Laura Ingalls Wilder pageant. She embroidered dish towels. Doris loved attending high school athletic events and was an avid Twins fan. She loved playing cards, especially 500 and Pinochle. Doris enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her children: Annette (Tom) Good, Staples, David (Wanda) Hoyt, Walnut Grove, Curtis (Bonnie) Hoyt, White Clay, NE, Bruce Hoyt, Brainerd, and James Hoyt, Williston, ND; grandchildren: Tony Good, Melissa (Joel) Stachovich, Trevor (Cassie) Good, Tim (Tarah) Hoyt, Angela (Nathan) Anderson, Adam Hoyt, Jason Hoyt, and Beth Hoyt; great grandchildren Mackenzie and Owyn Stachovich; and sister Leona Kleven Kottke.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Leslie; brother Henry Kleven; sister Gladys Kleven; infant sister Ellen; infant brother.
Irene Sophie Pederson

Irene S. Pederson age 93, Westbrook died Monday, September 9, 2013 at Our House Hospice, Slayton.
Irene Sophie Pederson, daughter of Nehemiah and Nettie (Anderson) Norem was born in rural Westbrook, MN April 13, 1920. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. Irene graduated from Westbrook High School in 1939. Following graduation, she attended Eitel Hospital School of Nursing, Minneapolis and became a Registered Nurse. On October 8, 1942 she and Steffen Pederson were married. They lived on his family farm home until 1973. They then purchased a farm near Farwell, MN where they resided until they retired. They returned to Westbrook in 1989. Irene was employed at several places, including nursing duties at Pipestone Hospital, Westbrook Nursing Home, and Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck retiring in 1988. Irene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Irene was an adult 4-H leader, member of Clara Barton Nurses Club, Heritage House Museum, Hospital Auxiliary, Senior Citizens Center, and a hospice volunteer. Her favorite pastimes were crocheting, quilting, cooking, baking, and traveling. Irene’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were a very joyful part of her life.
Survivors include her children and their spouses: Theodore (Phyllis), Farwell, John (Sharon), Fulda, James (Linda), Westbrook, David (Beverly), Westbrook, Linda (Michael) Johnson, Kensington, Karen Karger, Alexandria, and Daniel (Lori), Brooklyn Park; 19 grandchildren; thirty four great grandchildren; brother LeRoy Norem of Silver Springs, MD; and sister-in-law Mildred Pierson.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Steffen, July 30, 1989; infant grandson Derek Steven Byers; brother Norris Norem; sister and brother-in-law Elnora and Clifford Swenson; sisters-in-law Clara LaFaive and Martha Meeker.

Louise Marie Arnold age 84 of Walnut Grove died Monday, September 9, 2013 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Louise Marie Arnold was born November 24, 1928 on the family farm in South Brook Township, Cottonwood County, MN to Henry and Elizabeth (Boughman) Arnold. She was baptized at home and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Louise attended country school District 64 south of Storden and later Bean Lakes School northwest of Westbrook. She lived in South Brook Township for a number of years, then lived on the west side of Bean Lakes for three years, seven years north of Bean Lake, and then moved northwest of Walnut Grove in 1947 where she has resided since. Louise helped out around the home and farm all her life. She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Louise enjoyed reading.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews: Rebecca (Merlin) Peterson, Kevin (Kim) Arnold, Leone (Pat) Kavanaugh, LaVonne (Tom) Craft, Alson “Butch” (Shirley) Scarset, and Fay (Emiliano) Felipe; brother Roy Arnold of rural Walnut Grove; and many other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brother Carl Arnold; sister Laura Mae Scarset; and niece Wyonne Holmes.
Lillian H. Knudson

Lillian H. Knudson age 101 of Westbrook died Monday, September 9, 2013 at the Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center.
Lillian H. Knudson was born December 11, 1911 in Rosehill Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Cornelius and Mary (Engler) Wahl. She was baptized and confirmed at Rosehill Lutheran Church, and educated at District #48 Rosehill Township. Lillian married Otto E. Knudson on February 28, 1934 and they lived in Westbrook until his death on September 16, 1974, at the age of 70. Lillian was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook. She liked playing cards, especially Bridge. Lillian enjoyed a variety of crafts. She was an excellent seamstress, and crocheting and knitting were crafts she loved to do. She created many beautiful afghans. She also loved to bake. She baked sheet cakes and wedding cakes, and decorated them beautifully. Lillian’s cookie jars were always full of a variety of cookies and ready to serve with a hot cup of coffee when someone stopped by for a visit.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
