WESTBROOK, Minnesota (STPNS) -- Bryan John Kaale
Bryan “LeRoy” Kaale age 61 of Westbrook, formerly of Isle, MN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Sanford Sioux Falls Medical Center. Bryan John Kaale was born October 2, 1951 in Tyler, Minnesota to John Ross and Melba (Nerem) Kaale. He was confirmed at Old Westbrook Lutheran Church. He graduated from Lamberton High School. Bryan enlisted in the US Army in January 1986 and served as a Heavy Duty Mechanic. He received his honorable discharge in February of 1988. On August 18, 1994, Bryan married Luceille “Jean” Small in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They were married for 7 years. Bryan lived on a farm for a number of years, loved to garden and work outdoors.
Survivors include his brother David of Joliet, IL; sister Audrey of Mora, MN; former wife Luceille “Jean” of Westbrook; stepson Jason Small; step-grandson Brady John Bakken Small; and several cousins.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Chris Gullickson age 64 of Garvin passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Prairie Home Hospice in Marshall following a long battle with cancer. Chris Gullickson was born February 11, 1949 in Tracy, Minnesota to Darold “Buddy” and Donna (Bisgaard) Gullickson. He was baptized at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Walnut Grove, and confirmed at Tracy Lutheran Church. He attended school in Walnut Grove. Chris worked in construction, building elevators and ethanol plants. His passion was raising exotic animals on his farm, Broken Wheel Ranch, in Garvin. The animals he raised included bears, cougars, buffalo, beefalo, yaks, watusi, and tigers. Chris enjoyed going to flea markets and collecting various items. He was anxious to escape Minnesota winters every year by going south to Arizona. He spent time walking around casinos in Laughlin, NV, attending rodeos, and sitting and watching people and cars go by. Chris spent the last two years battling cancer, and entered Prairie Home Hospice in Marshall on August 20, 2013 where he passed away on September 17, 2013 at the age of 64 years.
Chris is survived by his two sons: Cody (Sarah) Gullickson of Sherburn, MN, Ryan Gullickson of Currie, MN but currently attending college in Australia; grandchildren: Lane and Amelia Gullickson of Sherburn; siblings: Clayton (Cheryl) Gullickson of Garvin, Cookie (Scott) Parker of Revere, Darla Gullickson of Winthrop, and Lesa Olson of Laughlin, NV; and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Buddy and Donna Gullickson.
