WESTBROOK, Minnesota (STPNS) -- WWG — The Chargers ran into a buzz saw with perennial nemesis Edgerton Ellsworth coming to town.
In the first quarter the Chargers were out gunned 24 to 8 with the Chargers scoring on a 62 yard touchdown pass from Shane Buchman to Sean McCroskey, Tristan Joel completed a pass to McCroskey for the two point conversion. The Chargers were shut out in the second quarter while the Dutchmen padded their lead with two more touchdowns making it 40-8 at the half.
Things did not get any better in the third quarter with the Chargers unable to find their way into the end zone. Meanwhile the Dutchmen cashed in on two more touchdowns upping their lead to 56-8. In the final stanza the Chargers were able to score another touchdown with Joel throwing a 31 yard strike to Buchman, but it was far to little, far to late. The Dutchmen then added insult to injury scoring six more to close out the game at 62-14.
Passing: Joel completed 10 of 19 for 99 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 extra point and 2 picks. Buchman was 3 of 10 for 66 yards passing.
Rushing: Mitchell Jarmer was 7 for 36 yards; Matt Otto had 8 carries for 32 yards; Anthony Koch had 2 carries for 15 yards. The Chargers had 86 yards total compared to 278 yards for the Dutchmen.
Receiving: McCroskey caught 5 passes for 84 yards 1 touchdown, and 1extra point. Buchman was 3 for 52 and 1 touchdown. Jarmer had 1 catch for 22 yards.
Punting: Walker Christians had 4 boots for 110 yards.
Kick returns: Joel had 4 for 70 yards; McCroskey had 4 for 66 yards; and Koch had 1 for 20 yards.
Defense: Tyler Schoborg had 8 tackles; Jarmer had 7 tackles and a fumble recovery; Joel and Logan Weis had 7 solos each; Buchman had 6 tackles with 1 sack and a fumble recovery; Jake Otto had 6 tackles and 1 sack; Tyson Berg had 6 tackles and a fumble recovery; Levi Bunting had 5 tackles 2 sacks and a fumble recovery; Eli Gundermann had 4 tackles 1 sack and a fumble recovery.
