WESTBROOK, Minnesota (STPNS) -- Jodi Rae Kolar
Funeral service for Jodi Rae Kolar will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, Sioux City. Online condolences may be made to www.christysmith.com.
There will be a Memorial Service Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. with a prayer service at 4 p.m. at Amlie Funeral Home, Tracy, MN. A private burial will take place following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke’s School of Nursing.
Jodi Rae (Gilb) Kolar, 52, Merrill, IA, died Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Unity Point St. Luke's hospital.
Jodi was born September 29, 1961 in Redwood Falls, MN, to Kenneth and June (Wegner) Gilb. She was baptized at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Milroy, MN, confirmed at Johnsonville Lutheran Church, Lucan, MN. She was united in marriage to Robert Kolar Jr. on August 2, 1980 at Johnsonville Church. She attended school in Milroy and Walnut Grove, MN, graduating from Walnut Grove High School in 1979. Jodi attended Mankato State University and graduated with honors on June 3, 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Jodi completed her Master's degree at Creighton University. Upon graduation from Mankato State University, she moved to Iowa and began her nursing career at Unity Point St. Luke's in Sioux City, IA. She went on to take a teaching position and then became Department Chair of Nursing Education at St. Luke's College. She held this position at the time of her death.
Survivors include Robert; children: Samantha (Guy) Matney, Allen Kolar, Robert III (Amanda) Kolar, John (Stephanie) Kolar; grandchildren: Jordan, Madison, Dayton, Rebecca, Robert IV, Caden, Maddox; mother June Gilb; brother Todd (Lori) Gilb; sisters, Kori (Bill) Robinson, Dawn Giese, Debi (Jeff) Holloway; several nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, students, and co-workers.
Preceding her in death were her father Kenneth, and grandparents on both sides.
