WESTBROOK, Minnesota (STPNS) -- Lila G. Scholtes
Funeral services for Lila G. Scholtes were held at Peace United Methodist Church, Morristown, on Thursday, May 22, 2014 with Reverend Elden Eklund officiating. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery, Morristown.
Lila, 89, Faribault, died on Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Plum House, Morristown.
Lila G., the daughter of Klaas and Mary (Cook) Bakker, was born on April 26, 1925 in Westbrook Township, Cottonwood County. She married Robert J. Scholtes on July 19, 1946 in Sandstone. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2014. Lila earned her Registered Nursing degree from Ancker Nursing School, St. Paul. She was employed by District One Hospital, Faribault Manor Nursing Home and Rice County Day Activity Center, prior to her retirement. Lila enjoyed gardening, pets, knitting, sewing, baking and caring for others. She was also an active member of the Mary Circle at Fourth Avenue United Methodist Church, Faribault.
Survivors include her children, Mary Nordmeier of Morristown, John (and Patty) Scholtes of St. Paul and Steven (and special friend, Melonie Burgess) Scholtes of Merrifield; four grandchildren, Carl Nordmeier, David (and Nikki) Nordmeier, Paul Scholtes and Nativity Townsend; six great grandchildren, Avery, Henry, Anna and Chet Nordmeier and Christian and Lacey Scholtes; three siblings, William Bakker of Apple Valley, Percey "Perc" Bakker of Hesperia, CA and Wesley (and Joan) Bakker of Westbrook; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Precedeing her in death were her parents: her husband, Robert; one son, James; two grandsons, Mitchell and Brian Scholtes; one son-in-law, Ernest C. "Jr." Nordmeier; and one brother, Dwayne Bakker.
