HULL, Iowa (STPNS) --   Case Van Der Brink, 83 of Boyden,  died, Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the Royale Meadows Care Center of Sioux Center.  Visitation was held Friday at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center from 4-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m.  A funeral service was held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Reformed church of Boyden with Rev. Matthew Draffen officiating with interment to follow in Sheridan Township Cemetery of Boyden.

  Cornelius Van Der Brink was born November 14, 1926 to Everet and Fredrika (Schelling) Van Der Brink at the family home west of Sioux Center. He attended country school through the eighth grade.



  Case served his country in the Army from 1945 – 1947. After his discharge he returned to northwest Iowa where he met Alice Flier. The couple was later joined in marriage on April 8, 1953. The couple lived near Larchwood and later Doon for a period of time before moving to a farm near Hull. Case farmed and drove truck for various local businesses. In 1962, Case and Alice moved their family to Boyden. Case continued to drive truck as well as work for Kooima Manufacturing and Demco Manufacturing.

  He was a longtime member of the First Reformed Church of Boyden and the Boyden American Legion.

  Case found enjoyment in playing cards, wood working, and fixing puzzles. He always liked being outdoors, fishing and camping. Case and Alice enjoyed going south for the winter and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

  He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alice Van Der Brink of Boyden; son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Brenda Van Der Brink of Boyden and their children Bobby (Tami) Van Der Brink of Boyden and their children: Autumn, April and Michael, Corey (Sheri) Van Der Brink of Rushmore, Minn. and their child: Aidan, Ashley Van Der Brink and her Fiancé Nathan Kruse of Alton; daughter, Connie Van Zee of Sioux Center and her special friend, Kent Rusche of Ocheyedan, and her children Tammie (David) Kosqei and their child: Keyah, Sherrie Riemersma of Orange City and her children: Madison and Jackson, Eric Van Zee of Alton, Amanda (Mike) De Koster of Orange City and their children: Malachi and Titus; son and daughter-in-law, Lyle and Delores Van Der Brink of Sioux Center and their children, Dawn Van Den Berg and Christopher Van Den Berg.

  Also left to cherish his memory are sisters-in-law, Ann Van Der Brink of Rock Valley and Eldora Van Der Brink of Sioux Center; brothers, Joe Van Der Brink of Maurice, Rich (Greta) Van Der Brink of Luverne, Minn., brother-in-law Jim Scholten of Inwood and numerous nieces and nephews.

  He was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, Henry and Grace Flier; brothers, Frank Van Der Brink and Bill Van Der Brink; sisters, Hendrika Van Hill, and Greta Scholten and sister-in-law, Arlene Van Der Brink.
