OBITUARY
Marilyn Kruid
HULL, Iowa (STPNS) -- Marilyn Kruid, 68, of Maurice, died Thursday, November 18, 2010 at the Sanford Health Center of Sioux Falls, S.D. A visitation was held Sunday at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center, from 2-8 p.m. with the family present from 2-4 p.m. A funeral service was held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Reformed Church of Maurice with Reverend Mark Haverdink officiating. Interment followed the funeral in Sherman Township Cemetery of Maurice. Marilyn Colleen Kruid was born October 25, 1942 to Case and Ethel (Kastein) Langstraat in Sioux Center. She attended country school and graduated from Sioux Center Community School in 1960. Marilyn was joined in marriage to Frank Kruid on August 23, 1961 at the Central Reformed church of Sioux Center. The couple lived in a variety of homes for the first few years of their marriage before moving to Maurice in 1965. To this union three sons were born: Brian Dale, Mark Franklin and Chad Henry. The Kruid’s opened their home to several foster children including Tom Buckley who continues to be a loved son, brother and uncle. Over the years, Marilyn worked at a variety of different occupations. Her most current position was working as an accounts payable clerk for Advanced Brands LLC of Orange City. Marilyn was a member of the Maurice First Reformed Church and enjoyed being involved in a variety of church activities. She also loved music and sewing. In her free time Marilyn spent time outdoors gardening, camping and fishing. She loved to bake chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Frank Kruid of Maurice; four sons: Brian (Vera) Kruid of Lennox, S.D.; Mark (Denise) Kruid of Midwest City, Okla.; Tom Buckley of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Chad (Jodie) Kruid of Rock Valley; seven grandchildren; two brothers: Hank and Carol Langstraat of Hull; Clint (Ruth) Langstraat of Wellsville, Kan. and sister, Edna (Tim) Lawson of Greenville, and numerous nieces and nephews. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Hank Langstraat.
