WESTBROOK, Minnesota (STPNS) -- Amy Pederson Funeral services for Amy E. Pederson were held Friday, June 22, 2012 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church,Walnut Grove. Interment was in the church cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.stephensfuneralservice.com. Amy, 97, of Walnut Grove died Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center. Amy Elenor Pederson was born September 29, 1914 to Albert and Susanna (Lunde) Pederson. She was born and raised on the family farm northeast of Walnut Grove. Amy was the youngest in her family. She was named by her older sister after a character in a book she was reading. Amy and her siblings attended country school District 42, about a mile from their farm. Amy liked animals, particularly cats and dogs, and she had a pet dog when she was young, named Gyp. Her upbringing on the farm was a very peaceful one. Amy learned how to read notes and play piano from her sister Evelyn. Amy was a lifelong member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church. One of her fondest memories was of her confirmation day at St. Olaf, where she was also baptized as a baby. Amy continued to live on the family farm with her brother, Kermit, after their parents passed away. She helped out on the farm for many years until they built a house in town and moved to Walnut Grove. Kermit and Amy traveled the upper Midwest states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Montana. She loved the mountains of western Montana and Mount Rushmore of South Dakota the best. Over the years her hobbies have included embroidery and tatting. She liked reading, and her favorite book was Little Women, and she also kept her Bible handy, which she received as a birthday gift one year. Preceding her in death were her parents; siblings: Kermit, Evelyn, and Lillian. Duaine D. Mischke Funeral Services for Duaine Dale Mischke were held Monday, June 25, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church, Westbrook. Interment was in the Rosehill Cemetery, rural Westbrook. Thursday, June 21, 2012 Duaine died at the Windom Area Hospital in Windom, MN at the age of 74. Duaine Dale Mischke was born March 21, 1938 to Emil and Johanna (Gertner) Mischke on a farm in Rosehill Township, Cottonwood County, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. He attended country school in Rosehill Township and Westbrook Public School. In September of 1958 Duaine entered the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA, where he was a member of the 2nd Howitzer Battalion, 1St Artillery. He served two years of active duty and then four years in the Army Reserves, receiving his honorable discharge in September of 1964. On October 2, 1963 Duaine married Janice Jenkins in Sioux Falls, SD. They made their home on a farm between Westbrook and Storden. In the past he drove a milk truck route and worked for Cottonwood County. He then worked for Boeck’s Construction, Westbrook; Fishel’s Construction, Storden; Svoboda Construction, Jackson, MN; Riddell Construction; Westbrook; Williams Construction, Westbrook. Duaine enjoyed fishing, hunting, vegetable gardening, bowling and pool league and tinkering with mechanical things, from small engines to cars. He was a member of the Storden American Legion. Survivors include his daughter, Cindy (Kevin) Burns, New Prague, MN; sons, LeeLand Mischke, Craig, CO, Scott (Deb) Mischke, Elko-New Market, MN, Kevin (Cindy Mahon) Mischke, Westbrook, MN; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; special friend, Bernie Olson; sisters, Elaine Eichner, Westbrook, MN, Norma (Roger) Doeden, Worthington, MN; brothers, Leon (Annette) Mischke and Duaine’s twin, Wayne (Delna) Mischke, both of Westbrook, MN; sister-in-law, Dawn Mischke, Worthington, MN; nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Wesley; sister LaVonne Mischke; two brothers-in-law, Bill Eichner and Bill Phipps. Elaine Roberts Ressler Funeral Services for Elaine Ressler were held Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the Jeffers Methodist Church with Pastor David Laechel officiating. Burial followed in the Jeffers Cemetery. Condolences can be sent online to: www.lacannefuneralhome.com Elaine, 95, Jeffers died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Westbrook Hospital. Elaine Roberts Ressler was born January 10, 1917, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Lynne Roberts and Amelia (Bobzine) Roberts. She received her education in the Pipestone, Minnesota School and graduated in 1935. She graduated from Mankato State University. Elaine taught country school in South Dakota and in Pipestone County and Jeffers. Elaine was united in marriage to Ramer Ressler on June 14, 1946. She retired from teaching in 1984. Elaine received the WCCO Good Neighbor Award, Cottonwood County Teacher of the Year in 1964, Friend of Education for the Storden-Jeffers School in 1993. After retiring she worked with third and fourth graders at Storden Elementary School. She also taught summer school. In 1967 the Jeffers High School Annual was dedicated in honor of Ramer and Elaine. Elaine was a member of the Jeffers United Methodist Church, NEA, MEA and Order of the Eastern Star. She loved reading, crossword puzzles, a good joke and playing Bridge. She had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. Elaine moved to Peterson Estates in Westbrook in March of 2011. Survivors include her cousins David and Marlene Eidem, Dale and Julie Eidem Family, Lisa Vossen Family, Joel and Julie Eidem Family, Mary Jean Eidem, her nieces, Judy Fankhanel Family, Cathy Aykens and Al and Nancy Hartz Family, Vernon and Shirley Hamilton, and Judy Beckley Family, two god-daughters, Vicki Graff Kobbe and Jennifer Pascua Wooten, several cousins and many friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Ramer; sister, Betty Aykens; nephews Stuart Fankhanel and Bertice Beckley. Joyce J. Bonk Joyce J. Bonk, 86, of Ann Arbor MI. passed away on June 10,2012. She was the daughter of Hans and Olga Johnson of rural Dovray. Her long career as a curator at the University of Michigan spanned nearly four decades. Survivor is her sister, Janice Tweet (David) of Eden Prairie, MN. Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers Irvin and Winston Johnson; husbands Dr. Wallace J. Bonk and Dr. Ed Woodworth. Memorials may be directed to Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Dovray, MN.
