    Katherine, 87, passed away at the Good Samaritan Center in Westbrook, MN  on Tuesday, June 26, 2012.

    Katherine Olsem, the daughter of Gerrit and Evelyn (Buwalda) Cuperus, was born on December 19, 1924 near Lakefield, MN. She moved with her family to a farm east of Dundee, MN when she was young.  She attended school in Okabena, MN and also country school. She graduated the Fulda High School in 1942.  Katherine was united in marriage to Martin Olsem on February 27, 1946 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Dundee. After their marriage they lived on a farm on the shore of Oaks Lake north of Dundee.  In 1989 they moved to a farm east of the family farm.  She entered the Good Samaritan Center in Westbrook, MN in May of 2009.  She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Westbrook, MN. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, canning, gardening, raising her chickens and spending time with her children and grandchildren.



    Survivors include her children, Nick Olsem, Dundee, MN, Joe (Carolyn) Olsem, Heron Lake, MN, Mary (Larry) Reith, Fulda, MN, Leo (Joan) Olsem, Dundee, MN, Edward (Laurie) Olsem, Dundee, MN, George (Carla) Olsem, Dundee, MN, Tom (Kathy) Olsem , Dundee, MN, Robert (Peg) Olsem, Westbrook, MN, Elizabeth (Dean) Johnson, Storden, MN and Richard (Heather) Olsem, Windom, MN; 29 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Burend Cuperus, Reading, MN, John Cuperus, Fulda, MN, Bill (Joyce) Cuperus, Fulda, MN; sister, Annie Ebbinga, Fountain Hills, AZ; sister-in-law, Lois Cuperus, Fulda, MN.  

      Preceding her in death were her parents; husband - Martin February  1996; son, John Olsem; brother, Gerbin Cuperus; infant daughter.
