WESTBROOK, Minnesota (STPNS) -- Robert Lauritz Daehlin  

    Funeral service for Robert Lauritz Daehlin will be held at Old Westbrook Lutheran Church, Westbrook, MN on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 2 p.m.

    Robert, 86, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in Northfield, MN.

    Robert was born September 14, 1925 at Watertown, SD to Rev. Ole E. and Thea J. (Furuseth) Daehlin. He was baptized and spent his early years in De Smet, SD. The family moved to Storden, MN and he was confirmed at Old Westbrook Lutheran Church. He graduated from Storden High School in 1944. He served in the US Navy for two years as a Pharmacist’s Mate. He studied at Augsburg and St. Olaf Colleges, also at Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, from which he graduated in 1951. He then began studies at Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, MN. On April 25, 1954, he was married to Valeria Stortroen at East Immanuel Lutheran Church near Amery, WI. On May 16, 1954, he graduated from Luther Theological Seminary, St. Paul, MN. On May 23, 1954 he was ordained into the Lutheran ministry at Old Westbrook Lutheran Church at Westbrook, MN.



    His first parish was at Bison, SD, where he served six churches. In 1956-1959 he served as an Air Force Chaplain at Travis Air Force base in California. He then served parishes in Spooner, WI (including Minong); Star Prairie, WI (at Bethany and West Immanuel); Metropolis, IL; and Gary, MN.

    Bob enjoyed making art and was an avid photographer.

    Survivors include his wife Valeria; children: Cheryl Dunham, Kennewick, Washington; Mark (Sue White) Daehlin, Northfield, Minnesota; Jonathan Daehlin, Moorhead, Minnesota; Daniel Daehlin, Richfield, Minnesota; and Lisa (Teyeb Ould Mohameden) Daehlin , New York City; four grandchildren; sisters: Lucile Doyle, Anoka, Minnesota; Agnes Hite, West Dundee, Illinois; nieces and nephews.

    Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers Edward, Joseph, Olaf “Ted” Daehlin.
