WESTBROOK, Minnesota (STPNS) -- Jon Thomas Olson Funeral service was held for Jon Thomas Olson Monday, July 30, 2012 at the Bethany Lutheran Church, Storden, MN. Rev. Cole McCormick officiated. Internment was in the Amo Lutheran Cemetery, Storden, MN Jon, 65, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at his home, after battling cancer for some time. Jon Thomas Olson was born on July 15, 1947, in Windom, MN to Leo and Verna (Hovde) Olson, Storden. Jon was baptized, confirmed and a life long member of the Amo Lutheran Church, rural Storden. Jon attended Storden Elementary and high school. After high school, Jon enlisted in the United States Marines in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1968 having met the rank of Corporal. Upon returning home, Jon attended St.Cloud State University in St. Cloud, MN. He and Annette Louise Zuehlke were married July 18, 1970 at the Ephipany Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, WIn. After marriage, Jon and Annette moved to St. Cloud where Jon continued his education. Living for a time in Alaska before coming home to farm. Jon was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman. He passionately built the farm from house to landscaping with the help of his family. Jon was a member of the Herbert-Reese American Legion Post #391, Storden, Winchester Club of America , Dakota Territory Gun Collectors Association, Des Moines River Du Chapter Committee, Tri State Rifle League, Sun Valley Gun Club, Sioux Empire Cartridge Collectors, Dacotah Rifle League and a 4-H firearms training instructor. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, and also served on the Cottonwood County SWCD for twelve years. Survivors include his wife Annette, Storden; children, Eric Olson, Storden; Tracy Olson (Pete) Peschel, Edina; Luke Olson, Storden; three grandchildren; siblings, Gary (Betty) Olson, Windom; Rick (MaryLynn) Olson, Wanaska; Deb (Kim) Miller of Jeffers; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents. Roland Willard Hanson Funeral service was held for Roland Willard Hanson at the Storden Community Center, Storden, MN Friday, July 27, 2012. Pastor Michael Stangeland officiated. Internment was held at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Storden, MN On Saturday morning, July 21, 2012, Roland died at his home in rural Storden at the age of 76. Roland Willard Hanson was born on December 28, 1935, in Storden, Minnesota to the late Peter M. and Inga Oline (Rasmussen) Hanson. He received his education in the Storden Public Schools; graduating in the Class of 1954. Roland lived in Storden his entire life except while serving his country in the United States Army. He farmed for many years and later in life scrapped iron. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden. Survivors include his niece, Myra E. (Willer) Guca of Goodyear, AZ; one great-nephew, James Troy Patterson of Pike Road, AL; two great-great-nieces, Sarah Nicole and Chloe Elizabeth Patterson; cousins, Elsie Ann (Larsen) Caron of LaCrescenta, CA, Marvin Peterson of Cedar Falls, IA; Ivan Pederson of Westbrook; Terry and Time Caron; and Lisa Ann Caron of LaCrescenta, CA; longtime special friends, Karen Iverson and Larry Hansen. Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister Evelyn Willer; and three cousins, Lowell, Ronald and Stanley Pederson.
