WESTBROOK, Minnesota (STPNS) -- For Forty six years Cottonwood Cattle Producers have hosted one of the beef highlights of Southern Minnesota—Beef Royale.  Beef Royale will begin on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at Double M Ranch, Westbrook, with the Market Steer and Market Heifers registration beginning at 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm. and the Feeder Calf show registration from 1:00 pm. to 2:30 pm.  Frank Jackson, Cottonwood Cattle Producer President, would like to invite all cattle producers to compete for cash prizes.  This is a non halter pen show for both market and feeder calf animals.  This year for the Feeder Calf show there will be separate clipped and unclipped divisions.  There is no limit to the number of beef animals per farm.  Feeder Calf judging begins at approximately 3:00 p.m.  Final selection of the Market Cattle will be done at 7:00 p.m.



    A hamburger picnic will be served from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with the public invited to attend.

    Prior to the evening show, as an educational activity, the public will have the opportunity to evaluate five animals for the carcass contest.  This would be a great opportunity for FFA advisors and local judging team coaches to educate their judging teams.  The market steers and heifers will be evaluated at the PM Windom beef plant in Windom.  Cash prizes will be awarded to the top five carcasses.

    Beef Royale is held at the Double M Ranch, Westbrook, with Maurice Mitchell hosting the event.  Other sponsors will be: Jackson Feed Company/Big Gain, Jackson Livestock Exchange - Trent Kolander, Owner, PM Windom, University of Minnesota Extension - Cottonwood County, and the Cottonwood Cattle Producers Association.

    The Beef Royale Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday, November 17, 6:30 p.m. at the Windom Area High School.
