WESTBROOK, Minnesota (STPNS) -- Evelyn Madson Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Westbrook. Interment was in the Westbrook Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent via www.stephensfuneralservice.com. Evelyn Madson, 98, Westbrook died Friday, August 24, 2012 at Valley View Manor in Lamberton. Evelyn Corrine Madson was born October 25, 1913 to Elmer and Cora Knudson on the family farm north of Westbrook. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church on Christmas morning, 1913. Evelyn was later confirmed at Trinity, and was a member of the church throughout her lifetime. Her life was centered around her Christian faith, and the activities of the church. Evelyn was an active participant in many church groups. At various times during her life, she served Trinity as Sunday School Superintendent, teacher, and willing worker. Evelyn was involved with Luther League, and was an instructor for some of the first sessions of the high school girls‚ Bible class. Evelyn graduated from Westbrook High School with the class of 1932. She was active in many activities, and especially enjoyed girls‚ basketball and softball. Evelyn graduated from St. Cloud Teacher’s College and taught country school in Districts 34 and 71, and in the town of Sanborn, MN. She retained a lifelong interest in education and was a special advocate of reading programs for young children. Evelyn was united in marriage to Allen Madson on October 31, 1943, while he was on furlough from the Army. They resided in Westbrook following the war. She was an educational volunteer in the Westbrook School System. Evelyn enjoyed working with ceramics, oil painting, and nature study throughout her lifetime. Survivors include her sons Richard of Pierre, South Dakota, and Lee of Westbrook; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Allen; brothers: Arvid, Myron, Oren, and Emerald; and her sister Marcella. Garry L. Hanson A memorial service was held on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Central Lutheran Church in Winona. Burial will take place at a later date in Westbrook, MN. Hanson, 76, died Thursday, August 16, 2012, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. Garry was born July 13, 1936, in Westbrook, MN, to Clarence and Alice (Sandbo) Hanson. He married Joan Olson in February of 1956 in Westbrook, MN. Garry briefly farmed on the family farm until moving to Welcome, MN, where he took a position at Bostfords Lumber Yard. Garry and his family also lived in Bixby, MN, until moving to Winona where he worked for Kendall Lumber. For a short time Garry operated Clark Super Oil gas station in Winona. For many years he partnered with Ev Holz and worked as a handyman. Garry worked at Target and Hoff Funeral Home until he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Garry was a member of Central Lutheran Church, the Jaycees, and served the city of Winona. Garry is survived by his wife, Joan; 7 children, Randy (Cindy), Egan, MN; Laurie (Mike) Timp, Cottage Grove, MN; Thom (Jing), San Ramon, CA, David, Apple Valley, MN; Kevin (Lauren), Mpls., MN; Mark, Apple Valley, MN, and Eric (Tina), Green Acres, FL; 14 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; four brothers, Myrl (Iola) Hanson, Bud (Alice) Hanson and Dennis Hanson all of Walnut Grove, MN, and Wydon Hanson, Lake Wilson, MN; 4 sisters, Algene Leiferman; Mankato, MN, Sonja (Robert) Swenson, Storden, MN, Karen (David) Schaplin, Corona, CA, and Twyla (Bill) Otto, Walnut Grove, MN; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Jody; and brothers, Dale, Charles and Gaylon. Jeffrey Curtis Anderson A Memorial Service for Jeffrey Curtis Anderson was held Thursday, August 23, 2012 in St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Lincoln, NE. Online condolences may be left at www.wyuka.com Jeffrey died August 19, 2012 Jeffrey Curtis Anderson was born on March 14, 1969 in Laguna Beach, CA to Karen (Gullickson) Anderson and Gary Anderson, a United States Marine and Vietnam War Purple Heart Recipient. As an infant, he and his parents returned to the family farm in Walnut Grove, MN. Jeff was a born outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish. In addition to working the land with his family, Jeff raised sheep. He loved his dogs. Jeff graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1987. Shortly after, he attended Alexandria Technical Institute in Alexandria, MN and later Worthington Community College, where he completed an Associate’s Degree. His love of learning prompted him to attend Southwest Minnesota State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Following his graduation from SMSU, he became employed with them in their Computer Services Department for many years. Stephanie and Jeff were married in 2002 in Marshall. In 2007, they moved to Malcolm, NE. Jeff directed Information Technology (IT) for GT Exhaust in Lincoln, NE, a job that he took pride in, one that he enjoyed to the fullest. Survivors include his wife Stephanie; children Grant, Laurel, Kjirsten, and Reid, Malcolm, NE; parents Gary and Karen Anderson, Walnut Grove, MN; brother Steven (Sheila), Brookings, SD; grandfather Leo Anderson, Redwood Falls, MN; mother and father-in-law Rise and George, Malcolm, NE; brother-in-law Joe (Christine), Omaha, NE; nieces and nephews and many friends. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Buster and Goldie Gullickson; Marge Anderson; infant son Gabriel Kaylor Mitchell-Anderson. Bruce Vosberg Memorial services for Bruce Vosberg were held Friday, August 24, 2012 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Dovray. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent via www.stephensfuneralservice.com. Bruce Eugene Vosberg age 49 of Delray Beach, FL, formerly of Dovray, MN died Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at his residence. Bruce Eugene Vosberg was born August 23, 1962 in Minneapolis, MN to Donald and Janet (Massey) Vosberg. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Bruce graduated from Westbrook High School in 1981, and furthered his education at Waldorf College and Dana College. He was a tennis pro at Delaire Country Club in Delray Beach, FL for 22 years. Bruce worked with a youth academy mentoring young people in tennis for several years. He enjoyed sports, especially tennis, drawing, painting, and playing guitar. Bruce loved his dogs Makiha and Dakota. Survivors include his parents Donald and Janet Vosberg of Dovray; brother Roy Vosberg of Hager City, WI; special friend Karen Woods of Delray Beach, FL; and many other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his grandparents George and Rosie Vosberg and Russel and Ruth Massey.
