OBITUARY
Albert Bakker
HULL, Iowa (STPNS) -- Albert Bakker, 86, died Friday, December 25, at Hegg Memorial Hospital, Rock Valley. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at Netherlands Reformed Church, Rock Valley. Burial at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley with Rev. Bazen officiating. Albert Bakker was born January 30, 1923 to Gerrit and Fannie (De Leeuw) Bakker near Hull. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. Albert was united in marriage to Alice Vande Stouwe on May 7, 1947 in Fairview, S.D. Together they farmed near Rock Rapids, Fairview and Hull, before retiring in 1990. Albert taught Sunday school and served as an Elder in the Netherlands Reformed Church for many years. Albert is survived by his wife, Alice; 2 brothers: Bernard (Evelyn) Bakker of Sioux Center, and John (Marie) Bakker of Rock Valley; 3 sisters: Dena Luttikhuizen of Wyoming, Mich., Jennie DeKam and Angeline (Gilbert) Hoogendoorn all of Rock Valley; 2 brothers-in-law: Gerrit (Lois) Vande Stouwe of Rock Valley, and Clarence (Faye) Vande Stouwe of Apple Valley, Calif.; 3 sisters-in-law: Leola Bakker, Margaret Vande Stouwe and Gertrude Vande Stouwe all of Rock Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Henry Bakker; 4 brothers-in-law: Martin Luttikhuizen, Clarence DeKam, Jake Vande Stouwe and William Vande Stouwe.
