JEWELL COUNTY, Kansas (STPNS) -- Saturday, volunteers worked at the Ute Theatre, Mankato. By day's end they had taken out the old front doors, front window and glass block wall. The wall was replaced with timber and a new front window and doors were installed. Later in the week, the interior of the wall was insulated and sheet rock added. Those involved included Larry Groves, Cregg Jeffery, Mark Hurd, Chris Klos, Rick Lehrling and Thadd Hinkle. Bob's Inn provided the Saturday noon meal for the workers. Saturday workers plan to add siding. This is the first stage in a campaign to renovate the Ute Theater. Other work planned includes a new ceiling, new flooring, new carpet, new paint job and other improvements planned.
