NEW SALEM, North Dakota (STPNS) -- A breakaway roping, team roping and barrel racing benefit will be held Saturday, September 15, at the New Salem Saddle Club Arena for Jackie (Olson) Schau, daughter Joel and Jill and Olson of Almont.

Jackie was recently diagnosed with Gestational Trophoblastic Tumors, a rare postpartum cancer requiring extensive treatment. Jackie, her husband Tyler, and daughter Sidney now make their home in Clemons, IA.

The following is a schedule of events for the Saturday, Sept. 15th benefit:

9:00 a.m., CDT ? Ladies? Breakaway Roping. Enter at 8 a.m. $30 entries ? cash awarded.



10:00 a.m. ? Team roping registration.

11:00 a.m. ? Super #7. Handicapped up and down 2 seconds/number. Three steer progressive, enter up to 5 times. Entries $25/man. Buckles, breast collars, jackets and cash awarded.

#5 Roping with a #4 incentive following. Three steer progressive, enter up to 4 times. Entries $20/man. Prizes same as #7. If time allows there will be an additional jackpot. All enter time amounts depend on turnout.

6:00 p.m. ? Auction of donated/sponsored items. Many very nice items, including horses, silver-plated spurs, and hand-crafted western items.
