WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Virginia (STPNS) -- Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors Chairman Darryl Fisher presented two resolutions that Board of Supervisors colleagues eagerly adopted during November?s official session.

The resolutions were of a personal nature. Fisher?s father was turning eighty and his grandfather was preparing to celebrate his hundredth birthday.

?It isn?t often that a family has a father and a son whose age difference is twenty years and one day,? commented Chairman Fisher. ?Our family will celebrate on November 24.?

Fisher revealed that resolutions noting the landmark birthday celebration of his own grandfather and father had been forwarded to the family ?from the President and from the local representatives on the state and federal level.

?I humbly and respectfully ask for your approval? of these two resolutions,? Fisher said to other members of the Westmoreland County Board.

?It?s kind of ironic that there would still be five living generations of the same family coming together at one time.

?If I?d started a little earlier, I guess there could have been six generations instead of five, but I guess I was a little slow.

"Whereas,?begins one resolution, ?Granville

Edison Fisher, Sr., esteemed resident of Westmoreland County, Virginia, will celebrate his 100th birthday on November 20, 2007; and

?Whereas, this distinguished gentleman will join the elite ranks of the centenarians while surrounded by loving friends and family; and

?Whereas, he has imparted to generations of descendents his century-long accumulation of knowledge and wisdom and has taught them the values that have served him well; and

?Whereas, he has watched the world change dramatically over the course of his lifetime and has contributed to its progress by his own hard work, dedication, and good citizenship.

?Now, therefore, be it resolved that Granville Edison Fisher, Sr. is honored and congratulated on the joyous occasion of his 100th birthday and extended the warmest regards.?

The companion resolution referenced Darryl Fisher?s father and stated that ?whereas, Granaville Edison Fisher, Jr., respected resident of Westmoreland County, Virginia, will celebrate his 80th birthday on November 19, 2007; and

?Whereas, having served the Northern Neck as a mortician, he has touched the lives of many; and

?Whereas, he has represented the citizens of Westmoreland County in various capacities as a member of the Westmoreland County Board of Equalization and as a local Officer of Election.

?Now, therefore, be it resolved that Granville Edison Fisher, Jr. is honored and congratulated on the joyous occasion of his 80th birthday and extended the warmest regards.?

The resolutions were adopted by a unanimous vote during the Westmoreland Supervisors? November 14 meeting.
