MILFORD, New Hampshire (STPNS) -- The heroes of the movie ?Dodge Ball? learned to duck and weave when their coach hurled wrenches at them. Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee must have received the political equivalent because he avoided clear answers to my questions with ease.

I met the affable Republican during a recent house party in Amherst.

His first great dodge came when I asked him about abortion. Newsweek columnist Anna Quindlen said pro-life advocates weren?t sure how to treat would-be mothers if abortion were illegal ? would they be arrested? Jailed? To test her theory, I asked Huckabee what he would do.

He almost answered the question and then pulled back.

?I don?t think you deal with the mother,? said the former Arkansas governor. ?Rather than deal with all that I think that misses the point.?

Huckabee never elaborated on who would be charged with what. But, he did manage to segue into the evils of slavery and the Dred Scott Decision.

I also asked him where the right to bear arms ends?

Huckabee replied it doesn?t end for law-abiding citizens. Then he steered the conversation towards his hobby of blasting ducks with a semiautomatic shotgun.

Finally, I asked, if the Second Amendment doesn?t end, could I have a missle launcher or a tank?

But, his handlers pulled him away as he repeated his bit about the never-ending Second Amendment.

Apparently, I should start saving for that tank I always wanted.
