Perman Family Moves to Help Senior Citizens at Social Security Time
POHNPEI, Federated States of Micronesia (STPNS) -- ?It doesn?t alway have to be the Government?, says Ferny Perman of the new nahs he is building for Senior Citizens who every month wait in line outside the Social Security Office in Kolonia, Pohnpei. He said, ?Even me, when I walk around Pohnpei the sun?s too strong. I just thought it would be nice to do something for people.? He isn?t looking for congratulations which somehow makes his efforts all the more laudable. He said that he just decided to do something for the seniors and this is what he came up with. The nahs, built nearly entirely from local lumber by a local chain saw wielding crew is fast progressing. Once it has its os (thatch) roof it will be a place where senior citizens can sit out of the elements. The nahs is entirely donated by the Perman family.
