Socorro County Sheriff's BlotterInformation for the following reports was gathered from the Socorro County Sheriff?s Department. Anything resembling humor or sarcasm was added by the staff of the Mountain Mail.
SOCORRO, New Mexico (STPNS) -- Feb. 19 A man on Farm Market Road reported at 5:30 p.m. that someone had kicked open the front door to his residence and took several items, including weapons. No suspects at time of report. Feb. 27 ? A man in Veguita reported at 6 a.m. that someone was dumping their trash at Cordova and Orlando Road. No suspects at time of report. ? A man in the 4000 block of Chaparral reported at 6:30 p.m. that he was at a Lemitar business when a suspect punched him. Victim said that they got into a fight and that he was just defending himself. The officer met with the suspect who claimed that it was the other man who threw the first punch. Both were told to stay away from each other. Feb. 28 ? A motorcycle was northbound on State Road 1 at 7:45 p.m. when the rider failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway. The bike hit a telephone junction box and the rider was thrown, causing visible head injuries. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital, then airlifted to an Albuquerque hospital. There was moderate damage to the motorcycle. Feb. 29 Vehicle 1 was traveling southbound on Interstate 25 at 2 p.m. when it went off the roadway and entered the median at mile marker 184. The vehicle continued traveling in the median and then entered the northbound lanes of Interstate 25, colliding head on with Vehicle 2. The driver of Vehicle 1 and driver and passenger of Vehicle 2 were transported to Albuquerque, one by Life Guard and the other two by ambulance. Extensive damage to both vehicles. March 2 A vehicle from El Paso was traveling southbound on Interstate 25 at 3:14 p.m. when it was pushed off the roadway by a strong gust of wind at mile marker 119. The truck with trailer ended up on its left side, receiving extensive damage. March 3 ? Vehicle 1 was backing up in a private lot in San Antonio at 1:35 p.m. and the driver failed to see Vehicle 2 which was parked in the lot. Consequently, Vehicle 2 had moderate damage to the right rear and Vehicle 1 had slight to no damage. This did not happen in Thomas Guengerich?s driveway. ? A woman on High Lonesome Road in San Antonio reported at 2:10 p.m. that someone broke into her vehicle and stole a gun. She said the weapon was in a case but the case was left in the vehicle. No suspect.
